Same to me, my MacBook Pro retina running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 crash after 2.4.5. Not only System Preferences crash, but also Console and other software like Dragthing and other. To correct, must reboot to safe lot, remove finderpop ,prefpane, then reboot and reinstall 2.4.4

However, I noticed that I have to set System Prefrences-Securit and privacy-general to allow software nstalltion from Anywhere before start installing Finderpop 2.4.4 or else the installation will have troupe, and Finderpop won't run.

After set the Security and Privacy to Anywhere as described above, and install 2.4.4, then run I for the first time. After Finderpop 2.4.4 run, then I can set the Security and Privacy back to allow software installation only from Mac App Store and Identified software developer. Following that Finderpop 2.4.4 will run fine. I think it has to do with sandboxing and security bug in 10.8.2" Smilar prolem occur with a software call Tidy Up 3.0.3 as well. System Prerences-privac and security-general must be set to Anywher before Tidy P 3.0.3 will install and run. If set to allow install software from Mac App Store and Identified developer, then OSX will pop a dialog that read the file has error and have to be move to Trash. This just stated only with some software in 10.8.2. I have discussed with Tidy P developer, and the dev stated that he is an certified developer and have his software certified by Apple. S he don't know what go wrong here. May be bug in OSX 10.8.2

I have tried that with 2.4.5 but it still crash. So the problem with Finderpop 2.4. Is more severe than the ce if Tidy P 3.0.3 fix and get it working properly plese.

Installed FP 2.4.5 and horrible crashes with everything. However, I am on OS 10.7.5 not 10.8.2. Sorry no crash logs because I cloned a backup I ‘happened’ to do yesterday. Now back to FP 2.4.4 and no problems. I do have Stuffit Destinations installed purely to decompress the odd .sitx file.

Thanks to all, and my deepest apologies for the screw-up.
I think I've fixed the osax problem in 2.4.6 - anyone brave enough to try it?

I still don't understand how it didn't crash and burn for me on two separate Macs... :?

Remember, if you have problems, FinderPop won't patch anything if you have the CAPS LOCK key down, and have the Control key pressed too.
That way you should at least be able to launch System Prefs and disable FinderPop.

Could some brave soul(s) give 2.4.6 a try and report whether it works OK? I will understand if you don't feel like it :-/

PS: Full-Score, the crash report for EarthDesk doesn't mention FinderPop at all...

That is what I noticed when I quickly scrolled through the crash reports here yesterday evening. No reference to FinderPop.

I will try 2.4.6. Fingers crossed...

Actually now I look at that EarthDesk crash report, it's dated September 1st so I think FP 2.4.5 is in the clear for that one :-/

Fingers crossed is right - let me know how you get on!

No problems with 2.4.6 (apart from the not-signed issue).

But again it does not work in applications like TextEdit and Preview, not in unused menu bar and not in upper left corner of the screen.

That is truly bizarre. It works fine for me. (Though I do have a delay in there which means that FP won't poll sandboxed apps until a couple of seconds after they start up, so if you're launching TextEdit and immediately clicking in an unused bit of the menubar, it won't work.)

I think I might need to do a complete OS reinstall...

Tried with TextEdit. Waited 20 seconds after launch. Nothing.

I viewed again one of yesterday's crash reports. It has lots of finderpop and finderpop-osax in it.

Yeah, I fixed a bug in the FinderPop osax - it should have crashed and burned immediately on all systems but not on mine!
Right - I'd better get to work now, will investigate further tonight.

@Ronald - can you double-check the version of FP you're running? I just noticed that the FTP I had in the background sending up 2.4.6 to finderpop.com was still not finished after more than an hour... I cancelled it and started it again, completed in 15 seconds... not my day today I think.
