FinderPop 2.5.2 BETA

Postby turly » 25 Nov 2013, 18:15

FinderPop 2.5.2 BETA (tagged "Half-man, half-biscuit") is now available.

Note that this is a BETA version, please don't publicise!

  • Stagger patching when FinderPop starts up for the first time and tries to patch currently running apps.
This should give better results if you have a huge number of startup items.
  • Items in the FinderPop Items folder whose names end in '---z' will appear in FinderPop menus without an icon.

The previously released version of FinderPop is available here (2.5.1).

If you're installing this over a previous version of FinderPop, you'll have to restart or logout/login for it to take effect.

As usual, if there are any issues with this, reply here in the forum!

Hi, Turly,

thanks for FP as always!
:-)
This time around I have a slight suspicion FP might be causing Finder not to start and show Err. -10810. This broke loose after I updated to FP Half biscuit :-)
Could it be because of it?
Config: MBP 13in early 2011, SL 10.6.8
What I tried:
Zeroed over the HD, then installed and updated the OS to SL.6.8, checked it works and restored the rest of the data with CCC. As soon as everything was back in place, the Finder stopped starting again.
The workaround is: in Terminal, “/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/MacOS/Finder & disown” – whatever that does, Finder.app works until restart.
Then I istalled a fresh copy of SL.6.7 and did not update it to 6.8. FP was deactivated (besides, after restoring, all Admin were degraded but this is a different story – CCC does that when cloning a bootable HD).
The Finder works.
But even after restoring my Admin acounts, FP does not work any more – I have tried three version back.
Does this make any sense?
I'd be grateful for some help in making FP work again (and pehaps understanding what the matter with Finder was…)

Hey Vlad,

Alas I have no idea what's going on in your system, and I've never heard of error -10810 :-(
What's in your Login Items?

Uninstall FP via the "Uninstall FinderPop" button in the prefPane's "Etc." tab. Just removing the FinderPop.prefPane will not remove the FinderPop.osax scripting addition installed when FP runs for the first time.

Then install a fresh copy of 2.5.3 beta for "all users".
