Derek, did you look at the trick described in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=350
It worked for me here under 10.11.3 with SIP enabled.

Just to report... still working A - OK under the newest OS update of 10.11.3. My only problem since installing 2.5.9 in November was retraining my muscle memory that it had to go up to the menu bar (instead of anywhere on desktop) after all these years.

Hi Turly

Many many thanks for Finderpop. It is by far one of my favorite and must have utilities on Mac, just like PopUp Folder used to be in the very old days.

As of today, there are 2 glitches that bother me in the current beta:

1 - in any Finder window, in Icon view (as opposed to list or column view), the original contextual menu contents disappears, only the Finderpop contextual menu contents appears.

2 - on multiple display setup, it is not possible to have the menubar click (and shift click) on any other display than the main display (tested on dual display actually).

Other than that, Finderpop just rocks on my El Capitan setup - I choose liberty instead of SIPcurity, and I am looking forward to sharing some beers with you.

Turly: An idea for you to think about. The beta is still working fine for me and I have gotten used to having to go up to the menu bar. Is it possible to "nail" the "FP" icon to a fixed spot in the menu bar? Every time that I restart, the icon ends up in a different place.

I'm thinking there must be a trick somewhere because the first few icons (all Mac OS items) at the right hand end are always in the same place. AND the Dropbox icon is always at the far left. All of the icons in between are random in their placement.

This would allow me to go to the same spot all of the time instead of "retraining" after every restart.

Not at my Mac this week, sorry!
There's no documented API for command-dragging to move your menulet unfortunately.
I have in the past used MenuBar ReArranger and BarTender to customize menulets, but have no idea whether these work anymore.

Non-Apple Menulets appear to be added to the menubar in the order the apps were launched, so perhaps killing and restarting FinderPop will always make it the leftmost menulet?

Hi Turly,

I have FinderPop 2.5.9-BETA functioning using 10.11.3. So far it appears to be OK. I have SIP enabled when I installed the prefpane in your FinderPop 2.5.9-BETA download, and I get the FP menulet.

Hope this helps someone wanting to use FinderPop again. I did not try to go back to 2.5.7 version. I figured if 2.5.9-BETA did not work, I would wait until a working release version comes out.

Again thank you Turly - and excellent job as always.

I installed the beta today, and it's working (for my use cases) out of the box. Thank you!

As I already used Default Folder for years I talked to the developer and he integrated submenu folder access like FP to the taskbar menus of DF.
As FP works no more without digging into system viscerals I have to abandon some of the features of FP and stick only with DF.
FinderPop: Rest In Peace

Or will there be a comeback????
